Kilnsey is Yorkshire’s Food Destination of the Year

Kilnsey Park Estate has been awarded the Food Destination of the Year award at the Yorkshire Life Food & Drink Awards 2014.

The Yorkshire Dales visitor attraction and fishing experience beat off competition from Holmfirth Vineyard and Lord Stones Country Park to walk away with the prestigious award.

‘It’s a real honour to receive the accolade of Yorkshire’s best food destination,’ says Estate manager Jamie Roberts. ‘The award is due to the quality of our food and the great staff who work so hard to give guests a real Kilnsey welcome’.
The award is given to businesses that combine a passion for local produce with a food-related visitor experience. Kilnsey Park opened as a trout farm in 1978 and has since grown to encompass fishing lakes, a visitor attraction, smokehouse, cafe and shop.
TV chef and local farmer’s daughter Stephanie Moon was on the judging panel for the award. ‘I’m so happy for Kilnsey, I’ve been cooking with their fish for years and it’s wonderful!’
Each year over 3,000 young people have their first experience of fishing at Kilnsey Park. ‘We’re proud to offer visitors a relaxing and educational countryside experience, where they can catch and eat their own food,’ says Jamie Roberts. ‘Our new plans are to expand our smokehouse so that more visitors can enjoy a real taste of the Yorkshire Dales.’
