Kitchen refurb puts chef out front

The Grassington House Hotel kitchen is to undergo a massive £100k refurbishment during January, but far from closing, John Rudden and his team are turning the two week transition period into a new dining experience at the award-winning establishment.

From Thursday 7th January to Thursday 22nd, a ‘pop-up’ kitchen will be created in part of the dining room so that diners will be able to enjoy watching the masterchef and his team preparing their meals ‘Chef’s Table’ style. John’s masterclasses have always been held in the dining room with minimal equipment, but the Chef Out Front experience will feature a full-scale mini kitchen.

Usually Susan Rudden is the face of Grassington House dining room while John’s team is busy behind the scenes working the culinary magic, emerging at the end of the evening to greet remaining customers. Food lovers are already eager to embrace the opportunity to watch them in action throughout the course of their meal.

Space constraints mean that there will only be 24 places available each night for the 5-course special set menu.

Meanwhile, the new kitchen installation is an exciting project for the Ruddens and their team. Specialist firm CHR Equipment Ltd. have been commissioned to undertake the refurbishment, with an impressive track record at Claridges and several Michelin starred venues. From the floor up the new kitchen will be a state-of-the-art facility embracing the latest eco technology for producing top cuisine. John explains:

“We are very excited about the project, having worked hard for a long time to save the funds to invest in transforming the kitchen in this way. Induction cooking equipment will make it a much better environment for the staff, dramatically reducing the heat and energy consumption by half, as well as providing us with the facilities to endorse Grassington House as a world-class destination for dining.”
