Leeds Cookery School launch University Students Course

The team at Leeds Cookery School are set to launch a new programme of courses aimed specifically at students heading to university this summer.

Over five mornings, students will learn how to prepare, make and take home a range of dishes aimed at helping to fuel them through their busy university days.

The award winning cookery school, which is based at the Old Fire Station, offers a range of exclusive chef-led cookery classes, courses and events in their bespoke training kitchen throughout the year.

Face to face courses have been able to get back up and running after being closed for several months during the lockdown period and as well as the new University Student Course, the team also offer training in bread and pasta making, Italian cooking and Indian cuisine to name but a few as well as family sessions throughout the year.

Sourcing their ingredients from Yorkshire and the surrounding area where possible, the school are also committed to supporting local growers and producers through their work, making sure that students are aware throughout their course exactly were the produce has been sourced from.

Run in partnership with local charity Zest, the School donates 100% of its profit to the local Leeds organisation which supports people living in disadvantaged areas of the city and carries out a number of projects including running social clubs, helping families to access food in the school holidays and developing cooking skills amongst others.

The team also work closely with Jamie’s Ministry of Food Leeds offering sessions to enable low income families and vulnerable people to access basic cookery skills and cookery clubs which address social isolation.

The new course will cost £300 per person and cover a range of food prepping and basic knife skills as well as learning how to cook a risotto base, the secret to perfectly cooked rice, how to make a quick and delicious soda bread, crowd pleasing meatballs and pasta, a healthy kale side dish, a range of Indian dishes and the ultimate Sunday roast.

Each participant will receive full recipes, including ingredients list and method to take home and a tasting session after each class where they will have the chance to sample the tutor’s version of each dish.
