Local Company Scoops Taste Awards Success!

Multi-award winning Raisthorpe Fine Foods Ltd is going from strength to strength with their Liqueurs and associated products. Beating competitors, they’ve just been awarded a prestigious gold star for both their Sloe Gin and Sloe Port Jelly from the highly coveted national Great Taste Awards.

The company was born in 2008 when Julia started making Raspberry Gin Liqueur for use in her husband’s successful game and simulated shooting business, Raisthorpe Manor. The clients were so impressed with the drink they wanted to buy bottles to take home with them. Starting production in the farm kitchen, it soon became apparent that the high demand couldn’t be met without larger premises. Today, production takes place in a purpose built factory on the family’s farm in Wharren.

Set in Hockney country, the company sources ingredients from the farms, fields and hedgerows in and around their 1,500 acre estate in Wharren and Thixendale. They employ local people and try to source everything involved in production locally, even down to the labels and boxes!

“We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded these stars,” says Julia Medforth, the company’s founder and owner, “We are all very passionate about our liqueurs and to see them acknowledged again nationally makes us very proud ““ and not to mention putting Yorkshire on the map!”
