Local farm shop drives national charity initiative

A Hornsea farm shop, butchery and café has been given the honour of creating a bespoke hamper to raise proceeds for local causes through Rotary Groups nationwide.
William’s Farm Kitchen, the award winning business that has supported The Rotary Club of Hornsea and East Riding since opening in 2011, is selling the special hamper through national Rotary clubs, with money from the sale of each hamper going to Hornsea Rotary for local causes.

Mark Farnsworth, William’s Farm Kitchen owner and honorary Rotarian, said the idea came about through discussions with Hornsea Rotary member Keith Twigg.

“We’re situated in the heart of a close knit community and we thrive on being a part of it. Being involved in initiatives like this means a lot to the team at William’s Farm Kitchen, the majority of whom live in Hornsea. This is what these hampers are all about – the money raised means we can then give something back to the community.

“The hampers themselves are full of classic treats with a Yorkshire twist and we hope that there is something in there for everyone!”

The hamper contains Rapeseed Oil, Yorkshire Chutney, Yorkshire Strawberry Conserve, Satsuma Marmalade, Flower Honey, Lobster Terrine, Brandy Snaps and Hornsea Mini Gingerbread Cookies.

£5 from each £30 Rotary Hamper sold will benefit Hornsea Rotary Club directly.

Mr Farnsworth has been involved with coordinating events to support Hornsea Rotary’s local initiatives since 2011. During the summer, he co-organised the third WFK Summer Sportive, a fund-raising 80k cycle, as well as a new Autumn ride. The combined events raised over £1,000 for Hornsea Rotary.

Rotary Hampers are available to buy by calling William’s Farm Kitchen on 01964 204301 or visiting the hamper page at www.williamsfarmkitchen.co.uk
