Minskip Farm Shop Top of the Crops at Business Awards

Minskip Farm Shop near Boroughbridge has won Best Rural Business at the Harrogate Advertiser Business Awards 2018, after being nominated in three categories including Best Rural Business, Customer Service and Employer of the Year.

Husband and wife team Ben and Emma Mosey took over the shop only one year ago and have been making a big impression in the local area, winning the Best New Business Award last November at the Deliciously Yorkshire Awards.  The shop has been on the site for 38 years, famous for its fresh free-range eggs laid by a flock of happy hens, and the vegetables grown in the market garden.  The new owners have kept up the high standards, while expanding the product lines to support more local producers.  They have also introduced new animals to the farm, including 3 Kune Kune piglets, 2 donkeys and 12 new born lambs.  Their recent Eggs-Treme Easter event was a great success with lots of messy egg-related games for kids over the bank holiday weekend.

Emma Mosey – who is also an author – said: “We are as pleased as punch to have won this award and to be nominated in three different categories is a real honour.  We feel very honoured and would like to thank our amazing team.”

“We fell in love with Minskip Farm Shop because it is a ‘real’ farm shop: you can see our hens ranging and our vegetables growing as soon as you drive in and then buy the produce in the shop metres away. 96% of what we sell is sourced from within 30 miles of the shop, and we are very proud of that.”

The couple have big plans for the business, with upcoming events for the May Bank Holiday on 28th May already in the pipeline.
