PERFECT PARKIN PARTNERSHIP FOR YUMMY YORKSHIRE ICE CREAM

Two well known Yorkshire food producers have come together to launch an exclusive new Parkin flavoured ice cream to be unveiled at the 12th Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival (August 9-12).

The new Lottie Shaw’s ‘Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin’ ice cream is a collaboration between Huddersfield based artisan ice cream producer Yummy Yorkshire and the award-winning Lottie Shaw’s bakery in Elland.

The distinctly Yorkshire flavour will be available from Yummy Yorkshire’s ice cream parlour and café following the Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival event. It will also be available in catering sizes for the specialist deli/retail, catering and foodservice markets.

Louise Holmes, co-founder of Yummy Yorkshire and responsible for the development of new flavours says “We always mark our time at the food & drink festival with the creation of a new ice cream flavour with a Yorkshire connection and made using high quality local ingredients.”

“Lottie Shaw’s is famous for its Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin throughout the region and beyond, so was an obvious choice to work with, not only because it is an award winning product, but also because it is from a fellow Yorkshire producer. We are delighted they agreed to come on board to help us create this unique flavour, which offers a rich and oaty ice cream which is true to Lottie Shaw’s award-winning parkin and the crumbly stickiness and wonderful oatmeal texture of the cake works brilliantly in contrast to the smooth ice cream. We are certain will prove to be extremely popular.”

Charlotte Shaw, mother of two and director of Lottie Shaw’s, left a 10 year career in sales and marketing with Diageo, the world’s leading premium drinks company, to work in the family business. Charlotte was so passionate about her family’s Seriously Good recipes that she made the decision to launch a new brand of Lottie Shaw’s premium products, which are distinctively packaged and aimed at the independent retail market as an indulgent, yet affordable all year round treat or gift.

Charlotte Shaw, director, Lottie Shaw’s adds: “We are excited to work with fellow producer Yummy Yorkshire in the development of this authentic taste of Yorkshire in an ice cream. We are seeing increasing demand for our Yorkshire Parkin and this is a perfect partnership to bring our family recipe to ice cream lovers across the region and beyond. We hope the cool and crunchy combination is a hit with visitors to the Huddersfield food & drink festival.”

The Lottie Shaw’s Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin ice cream will be available for visitors to buy for the duration of the food and drink festival from Yummy Yorkshire’s stand (Number 13), which is located near the steps of the railway station.

The Huddersfield food and drink festival is one of the largest free events of its kind in Yorkshire and brought almost 100,000 people into Huddersfield last year.

This year’s festival is bigger than ever, with more than 70 food and drink stalls, plus an exciting programme of demonstrations, workshops and children’s entertainment. There will also be a Vintage Fair inside the nearby Byram Arcade, Huddersfield’s oldest Victorian arcade just a minute’s walk from St George’s Square, where the festival takes place.

Cathy Burger, Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival Manager, says: “We’re delighted that Yummy Yorkshire are producing a special flavour for the festival. Their ice cream always goes down so well at the event and I’m sure that their Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin ice cream will be no exception!”
