Pies on the rise, as champion pie maker launches new range

Keelham Farm Shop, crowned Supreme Pork Pie Champions 2014, launches its new range of delicious handmade pies in time to celebrate British Pie Week, 2nd–8th March. Once the working man’s staple now a firm family favourite, the UK has a new found appetite for pies* and the award winning Farm Shop’s exquisite new pie portfolio features 6 classic recipes filled with fresh ingredients from Yorkshire producers.

Keelham Farm Shop has been developing new products since acquiring family-run Ambler Pies two years ago. With its own pie-making facility just 2 miles down the road from the Thornton shop, the pie recipes have been created by Executive Chef, Jason Wardill and Keelham’s award-winning team of butchers with more than 250 years’ of combined experience. Keelham Pies are made with fresh vegetables and meat selected from local marts by James Robertshaw, who runs the 40 year-old business with his sister Victoria Robertshaw, offering a nutritious and affordable way to feed the family.

The range includes classic British favourites including a Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie, and a succulent Yorkshire Steak, Potato and Tipsy Pig Pie. Located in Thornton, Bradford – Curry Capital of the World – Keelham has also taken inspiration from its roots, with a spicy and aromatic slow cooked Chicken Curry Pie. Offering a vegetarian alternative is the Roast Veg and Three Bean Chilli Pie. Every month from May the range will introduce a new recipe, featuring the best of the season’s ingredients.

Victoria Robertshaw commented: “Nothing encapsulates family cooking more than a freshly baked pie. It’s an affordable and convenient way of feeding the family after a long day. We value enormously the trust we have from our customers so we take the time to choose the best ingredients and deliver a product that is nutritious, sustainable and that tastes great. At this time of year, with the chill still firmly in the air, there’s nothing more comforting than tucking into a crispy, golden crust filled with fantastic flavoursome ingredients. My personal favorite is the Yorkshire Steak and Tipsy Pig Pie and I’m looking forward to some unusual and new flavor combinations coming out of the ovens in the coming months.”

The new Keelham Farm Shop currently under construction on Gargrave Road in Skipton is due to open this summer. For more information about Keelham Farm Shop visit https://keelhamfarmshop.co.uk/
