Prime Minister welcomes Yorkshire producers to Parliament event

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met food and drink producers from across York and North Yorkshire recently at a special Taste of North Yorkshire Parliamentary event.

Held in the Jubilee Room, businesses including Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice, Yorkshire Flapjack, Spirit of Harrogate and Whitby Distillery travelled to the capital for the event hosted by Kevin Hollinrake, MP for Thirsk and Malton with the aim to showcase and promote food and drink in the county.

Owner of Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice Jane Birch said: “We were thrilled to have been asked by our local MP Kevin Hollinrake to attend the event and represent his constituency.  We had the opportunity to talk to the Prime Minister along with fellow MPs, and other staff about our business and what makes our award-winning juices so delicious.”

Also in attendance were representatives from the departments of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and Business and Trade.

Of the annual event Mr Hollinrake said: “North Yorkshire’s small businesses have proved as resilient as Yorkshire folk always are and the significance of supporting local business cannot be overstated, fostering a sense of community and preserving the unique character of North Yorkshire’s towns and villages.”
