Proudfoot’s acknowledged for community work

A Scarborough-based retailer have been acknowledged for their dedication to helping local causes.

The Proudfoot Group were presented with an award for ‘Outstanding contribution to the local community’ at a recent ceremony held by national retail specialist Nisa.
Each year at its annual exhibition and gala dinner, Nisa recognise members who have demonstrated examples of retailing excellence over the past 12 months.  The award was part of a celebration for Nisa’s 40th anniversary earlier this month which saw retailers, staff and suppliers dazzled with a 70s-themed awards evening and gala dinner.

Family Run Proudfoot’s has a long history as an independent retailer and prides itself on providing the best possible service to its customers and the area and getting involved in the local community. Since the formation of Nisa’s charity, Making a Difference Locally in 2008, Proudfoot’s has donated in excess of £35,800 to around 100 local causes through the charity, ranging from local schools, sports clubs and community groups to charities, hospices and churches.

In addition, the group also regularly holds fundraising activities and collections in its stores and raises money for local causes through the 5p carrier bag charge, which last year saw the RNLI Scarborough Lifeboat Station receive a cheque for £10,000 from the funds raised.

Acknowledging their outstanding contribution to the local community, Proudfoot’s will receive £2,500 as part of the award to donate to local causes.
Valerie Aston, director at the Proudfoot Group, commented: “Our ethos is to help as many charities and good causes within our area as possible, with donations from £100 up to £1,000. The Making a Difference Locally initiative has opened our eyes to the work of the many groups and organisations within our area of the country who are doing invaluable work to help so many and we’re delighted to be able to support them.”
