Rosebud Preserves Release new limited-editionKentish Apricot Jam

The team at Masham based Rosebud Preserves have released a new limited-edition jam.

The newly released Kentish Apricot Jam is a completely new product for the award-winning team, thanks to the warmer summers over the past ten years, which has enabled growers in the region to increase their yields, growing apricots of a very high quality in the UK.

The introduction of hybrid varieties, bred for cooler climates, and later spring flowering, resulted in apricots with a much more intense flavour and colour than imported varieties, making them ideal for this classic preserve.

Elspeth Biltoft, owner of Rosebud Preserves, said: “It was a preserve maker’s dream come true this year to find availability of English apricots of such high quality. We would only expect to achieve this if we lived in France or Portugal and had access to specific varieties.

“These Kentish apricots have exceeded our expectations. Their intense flavour, strong, rich colour and sun-ripened fruitiness was everything we could possibly have hoped for in our jam. We have made just over 1,000 jars to test the water so to speak and we hope our customers will agree it is a delicious jam.”

Rosebud has been making its jams, marmalades, chutneys and jellies from their base in North Yorkshire, since 1989. Founded by Elspeth Biltoft with her founding principles of sourcing locally and using traditional recipes and time-honoured techniques, their range of products are stocked at high end retailers throughout the country as well as across the world. The new preserve is available to buy online at www.rosebudpreserves.co.uk
