Rounton Coffee begins a new chapter in Thornaby

Independent coffee roaster Rounton Coffee has moved into a new home in Thornaby, marking an exciting new chapter for the North Yorkshire business.

Launched in 2013, Rounton Coffee has steadily grown into one of the region’s best-known speciality coffee brands. The move follows more than a decade at The Granary, where founder David Beattie first began the business.

Now, after almost two years of searching for a suitable new home, the team has relocated to a new larger site, offering improved production, warehousing and staff facilities, which will provide the infrastructure and space needed for the next stage of the business.

David Beattie said: “For years we’ve wanted to do more training, more coffee education and more events and create a space where customers can learn, taste and experience the craft behind what we do. The new site gives us the opportunity to change that.

“Over time we’d love to host more barista training, cupping sessions, equipment demonstrations, open days and coffee experiences. We want people to see behind the curtain, understand where their coffee comes from and become part of the journey.”
