North Yorkshire based Rounton Coffee have unveiled their new mobile coffee shop, created using a vintage caravan bought on eBay.
The team, who have spent almost five months painstakingly converting the 60-year-old Viking Fibreline caravan into a fully equipped café on wheels are anticipating serving 10,000 cups of their award-winning coffee at shows and events throughout Yorkshire and the North East this summer.
Launched in 2013, Rounton Coffee has steadily grown into one of the region’s best-known speciality coffee brands, secured eight prestigious Great Taste Awards along the way.
Tired of setting up marquees at events throughout the region over the last 13 years, founder David Beattie decided to make a change and rather than buy a horsebox, the eco-minded company, who are a 1% For The Planet member, chose to salvage an existing vehicle instead.
David said: “We started life on farmers’ markets, and events have always been a huge part of the business, but setting up marquees ate up so much time and energy.
“It always felt like we were building a coffee shop from scratch, so having the coffee caravan is a breath of fresh air.”
Having sourced the iconic vintage caravan from a farm in nearby Thirsk, the team got to work gutting and spray-painting it and installing everything from food-preparation areas to LED lighting, alongside a state-of-the-art coffee machine.
Making its debut at Darlington’s Hopetown Vintage Fair recently, the Rounton Coffee team will be towing it to the Deer Shed Festival later this month.
