The team at a North Yorkshire based curry producer are celebrating after winning a prestigious industry award.
Saffron Tree, who produce a range of high quality Indian ready meals from their base in Harrogate, won the Best Ready Meal accolade at The Grocer New Product Awards for their Gosht Ka Salan curry.
Founder Monalisa Fathima said: “Winning this award is a bit of dream come true for us here at Saffron Tree! We’re a new, small business and winning this category amongst some key players in the UK FMCG sector is such a massive honour. It is an absolute joy to be recognised for all the hard work that we put in every single day and we are so very proud of this achievement.”
The Grocer New Product Award aims to recognise innovation throughout the UK’s food and drink sector. Open to products that have been launched in the last 14 months the awards receive hundreds of entries from across the country.
The winning Gosht Ka Salan curry is made with caramelised lamb sautéed in whole spices, then slow cooked in chilli, tomato and crushed fenugreek leaves to create a deep and aromatic flavour. Passionate about using the best quality ingredients throughout their range, the team sourcing locally where possible with the lamb in the winning dish coming from R&J Butchers.
Originally founded after Monalisa saw a gap in the market for high quality, authentic Indian meals in supermarkets, Saffron Tree now make an extensive range based on recipes passed down from family and friends. Their award winning products aim to offer customers restaurant quality Indian food with the convenience of a takeaway in the comfort of their own homes.
The Grocer New Product Award is the latest accolade for the Saffron Tree team who have previously triumphed in both the Great British Food Awards and Deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards in recent years.
