Sainsbury’s backs local breweries

A Yorkshire brewery is celebrating after winning a listing in 91 Sainsbury’s stores throughout Yorkshire.

Wold Top Brewery’s blonde continental style beer Wold Gold has been listed as part of a focus on Regionality following successful Sainsbury’s initiatives in Scotland and the South West.

Commenting on the listing, Tom Mellor said; “We have been working hard recently to promote our beers throughout Yorkshire and beyond, so we’re naturally very pleased to have secured this listing and applaud Sainsbury’s initiative to showcase great local products in local stores.”

Other Yorkshire companies to be listed include Toppings Pies, from Doncaster, Mercer Jams and Chutneys from Wheldrake, Sheffield based Yorkshire Crisps and Saltaire, Cropton and Daleside breweries.

The Yorkshire listing follows a temporary national listing for Wold Top Brewery’s Scarborough Fair IPA as a finalist in the Great British Beer Hunt earlier in the year.

Wold Gold and Scarborough Fair are two of a range of award winning beers whose ingredients include home and Wolds grown barley and Wolds filtered water. In addition to Sainsburys, they are also available through the “website”:www.woldtopbrewery.co.uk and from independent, family owned retailers, farm shops, delis, hotels, pubs and off licences throughout Yorkshire and further afield.
