SHEPHERDS PURSE CHEESES WINS SAINSBURY’S LISTING

Artisan cheese maker, Shepherds Purse of Thirsk, North Yorkshire, has secured listings for Harrogate Blue and Bluemin White with supermarket Sainsbury’s. These two new cheeses join the best selling Yorkshire Blue on the deli counter, making Shepherds Purse products available in more than 100 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK.

Harrogate Blue is the latest innovation to come from artisan cheese makers Shepherds Purse. This premium golden bodied, delicate blue veined cheese made with Yorkshire cow’s milk will be available in 57 Sainsbury stores across the UK. Harrogate Blue was launched in June of this year and has already picked up two Gold Medals at the Global Cheese Awards, including “Best New Dairy Product”, pipping dairy giant Arla to the post, and Best Soft Blue Cheese.

Bluemin White will be available on 41 Sainsbury’s deli counters nationwide. This Nantwich International Cheese award Gold Medal winner is a blue mould ripened mini whole cheese. Made by hand in the small, family run dairy in North Yorkshire, Bluemin White softens as it matures to deliver a creamy smooth taste. Both Harrogate Blue and Bluemin White join Yorkshire Blue which can already be found in 62 Sainsbury’s stores.

All three products will be making their debut in re-designed packaging featuring the new Shepherds Purse branding. The clean new look heroes the provenance and artisan nature of Shepherds Purse Cheeses and is designed to reflect the straightforward, honest and premium qualities of the Yorkshire born and bred family company. The new branding is being rolled out across the whole range over the next 6-9 months.

Caroline Bell, director, Shepherds Purse Cheeses said: “We are delighted to have secured further listings for our artisan cheeses in Sainsbury’s. It’s been great working with the team at Sainsbury’s to bring Harrogate Blue and Bluemin White to deli counters across the UK and we think the Sainsbury customer is going to really love the new range now available”
