Artisan cheese makers Shepherds Purse are attempting to beat the January blues with their new Feel Good Cheese Box.
Launched on the 1st January, the new box contains a selection of their award winning cheeses including Fettle, which was launched last year in a bid to help support local sheep milk producers during the national lockdown, along with their iconic Yorkshire Blue and Harrogate Blue.
The Feel Good selection also features Sourdough Crispbreads with Rye and Charcoal and a bottle of locally produced Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil with Lemon along with a recipe card to create a delicious Olive, Fettle and Lemon Oil Pesto.

Not only does it contain a selection of our most popular cheeses but we’ve also includes a bottle of Lemon Oil from fellow local producers Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil which really compliments the cheese selection and gives customers a real Taste of Yorkshire.”
Available to buy online now the boxes also feature their innovative new Beeswax Wraps which are perfect for keeping cheese fresh without using plastic, something that is increasingly important to the family run company.
Caroline continues: “The new wraps were launched in November as a way of helping our consumers cut down on single use plastic and help them to store their cheese properly at home. Wrapping cheese in plastic doesn’t allow it breath properly and the raise in temperature can cause it sweat. The new Beeswax Wraps are reusable and allow the moisture to wick off the cheese whilst keeping the correct amount of humidity, so it stays in perfect condition.”
The Thirsk based team will be discussing the health benefits of eating cheese, and in particular their Fettle as part of the BBC’s Food Unwrapped series which will air next Monday 11th January.
