Star Chefs Announced for Malton Food Lovers’ Festival 2014

BBC’s The Incredible Spice Men and Channel 4’s Michela Chiappa and her Sisters are the first foodie names to be revealed in the star line-up for Malton Food Lovers Festival, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May 2014.

Now in its sixth year, the festival attracts over 20,000 food lovers to Malton, for an outstanding line-up of over 160 quality food and drink producers, the best of Yorkshire’s own chefs and top-level patrons vying to return year on year.

The culinary celebs are trading the TV studio for a Yorkshire kitchen and are hoping to whet the appetites of thousands of festival-goers with recipes using the very best Yorkshire produce. The Incredible Spice Men and the Chiappa Sisters will be cooking in the chef demonstration theatre and giving cookery lessons in Malton Cookery School.

Award-winning TV chefs Tony Singh and Cyrus Todiwala OBE DL are famed for presenting BBC 2’s ‘The Incredible Spicemen’, a series transforming the way people cook British dishes at home. They share a passion for British produce, and an unrivalled commitment to spicing up that traditional British fare.

Originally from Bombay, Cyrus Todiwala came to the UK 20 years ago and is the multi-award winning chef patron of acclaimed London restaurants CafĂ© Spice NamastĂ© and Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen, both defined by a passion for combining the best of British produce with Cyrus’ rich, spice-infused Parsee culinary heritage. Tony Singh is one of Scotland’s leading chefs. As a fourth-generation Scot who grew up in a traditional Sikh family, he has become renowned for combining traditional Scottish produce and techniques with exotic flavours.

The two chefs will launch their book, ‘The Incredible Spicemen’, in August. Published by the BBC, the book will help ‘spice up Britain’s food’.

Channel 4 Star Michela Chiappa and her sisters Emi and Romina will be cooking up dishes from their popular four part cooking series ‘Simply Italian’ which hit our screens in 2012. The Chiappa Sisters publish their first cook book in April this year, entitled ‘Simply Italian’, packed full of family recipes that have been handed down the generations, using simple, fresh ingredients.

Michela is also renowned for appearing on ‘Made In Italy Top 10’ on More 4 in which she revealed her favourite recipes for Britain’s top ten Italian dishes.

The Malton Food Lovers Festival will boast a fabulous food market of over 160 of Yorkshire’s best producers, retailers and restaurateurs, and features two days of demonstrations, tutored tastings, talks and entertainment.
