Town End Shortlisted for Prestigious Industry Award

The team at a farm shop in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales are celebrating after being shortlisted for a national industry award.

Town End Farm Shop at Airton near Skipton are in the running to win the Best Farm Shop accolade at this year’s prestigious Farm Shop & Deli Awards.

Split into nine regions across the UK, the awards aim is to celebrate specialist retailers and particularly recognise the courageous commitment shown to their customers, community, staff and suppliers throughout the last year.

Town End’s owner Chris Wildman said: “We’re so thrilled to be shortlisted for an award in these testing times.  Our staff, suppliers and customers have all really stepped up to support each other throughout the last year so we’d like to say a huge thank you and we’ll keep our fingers crossed for the announcement in the summer.”

No strangers to winning awards, Town End have continued to open throughout the last year, adapting the business in-line with government regulations and offering free local deliveries where needed.   

As well as supporting customers the team have continued to work closely with their local producers and suppliers by continuing to stock a full range of products including fresh and cured meats, fish, spirits, wine and beer, seasonal fruit and vegetables, preserves, confectionery as well as their own grass-fed lamb, traditional breed cattle and rare breed pork.

Now in their eighth year, the Farm Shop & Deli Awards are one of the most highly regarded in the industry and this year received in excess of 150 entries.

The shortlisted businesses in each region will now go forward to be judged by an expert panel of food writers, critics, supermarket buyers and consultants lead by broadcaster and journalist Nigel Barden who will decide on this year’s final winners.
