Unique Vegetable Savoury Snack Range from a Yorkshire Company Is A UK First

A new range of snacks launched by The Premium Snack Company is the first in the UK to contain freeze dried vegetables ““ ensuring that they taste as if they have come straight from the garden, with no added salt, sugar, fat or preservatives. Freeze drying locks in the natural vegetable flavour providing a whole new taste experience in savoury snacking.

The Nothing But range features three different snacks ““ sliced beetroot & parsnip, pea & sweetcorn, and mange tout & red pepper ““ with a single packet representing one of the 5 A Day recommended fruit or vegetable consumption for healthy eating. And because they contain no added fat, the products are low in calories compared to more traditional snacks.

David Street, a spokesman at The Premium Snack Company, said: “The freeze dried fruit and vegetable snack market is well established in the USA and Asia and we feel the time is now right to lead the development in the market in the UK.”

“The UK consumer will try a new snack if it looks interesting and different and we feel that the combination of vegetables that we have used in our range, combined with their ‘real vegetable taste’, will appeal to people who are looking for healthy alternative snacks containing 100% natural ingredients,” he added.

“With the Nothing But range, you get nothing but real vegetables, and because they have been freeze dried they maintain their taste, colour and appearance throughout their shelf life.”

Freeze drying is a well-established process designed to carefully remove water from sensitive products such as fruits and vegetables whilst maintaining their essential nutrients. In fact people have been eating freeze dried fruits in their breakfast cereals for many years.

The Nothing But range is ideal for people on the go ““ because the vegetables rehydrate in your mouth, you can eat vegetables such as beetroot with no risk of spills or stains.

Approved by the Vegetarian Society, Nothing But will retail between £1 and £1.20 a packet, providing a good cash margin for stockists. The launch of the range is being supported by a comprehensive social media campaign to develop consumer interest. Nothing But is now available on Amazon and at a number of other stockists, including Suma Wholefoods and Rainbow Wholefoods.
