Winter Wildlife Walks Open Day

The team at the Side Oven Bakery at Foston on the Wolds will continue their popular programme of events this weekend with a Winter Wildlife Walk Open Day in partnership with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

Sunday 5th February will see the farm and bakery open their gates and doors to the public between 10am – 3pm with guided wildlife walks at intervals throughout the day, led by an expert rom the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

The family run, organic arable farm is home to many species of wildlife including barn and tawney owls, heron, egret, deer, hare, and foxes.  The walks will take approximately 1 hour and take in the beautiful East Yorkshire countryside.

The Sellers family have lived and worked at Carr House Farm on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds for 5 generations and their organic soft fruit orchards including apple, blackcurrant and elderflower are used to produce their award-winning range of Apple Juice and Fruit Cordials which are all picked, press and infused by hand.

The team at the bakery will also be welcoming the Makara Morris group who are based at Wansford. The group of 6 dancers will be performing a ‘Wassail’, a traditional Anglo Saxon blessing of the fruit trees in hope of a bountiful harvest.

The bakery itself will be open 10am till 3pm, selling a huge selection of freshly baked breads, croissant, cakes and other refreshements.
