Wolds ale proves to be a big hit in Finland

An award winning East Yorkshire microbrewery has just shipped its third order of beer to Finland.
Wold Newton business, Wold Top Brewery, has reported unprecedented export growth over the last 12 months, with business coming from countries including Italy, Canada and the Falkland Islands.

Wold Top Brewery’s Export Manager, Kate Balchin is delighted with the brewery’s success overseas and said: “The Finns have developed a taste for our gluten free beer, Wold Top Against the Grain and are ordering almost every month.”
Wold Top Against the Grain is has been declared the most beer like of all gluten free & low gluten free beers in taste tests. Made from lager malt, maize, hops & yeast, it is a premium, full flavoured bitter beer with a good creamy head, refreshing bitterness and citrus aftertaste. The gluten content is certified to be well below the required codex standard of 20 ppm.
Exports at the farm based micro brewery now account for almost 15% of turnover and include business with Canada, Italy, Sweden, Norway and Ireland.

Farm based Wold Top Brewery is part of the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) scheme for environmental initiatives and is also working closely with the RSPB to promote its birdlife. It brews traditional real ale from home and Wolds grown malting barley, the finest hops and chalk-filtered water from the farm’s own borehole. Closer to home, its range of award winning ales is also available through the website, independent, family owned retailers, farm shops, delis, hotels, pubs and off licences throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
