YORKSHIRE BAKERY LAUNCHES NEW INDIVIDUAL TARTS RANGE

Award winning Yorkshire bakers and patissiers, Just Desserts, has developed a new range of individual tarts designed to appeal to the deli/farm shop sector, as well as coffee shops and the restaurant/bistro market. The downsized dessert range will be launched at this year’s Speciality Food Show, Harrogate, June 23-24. The company will also unveil a new Gluten Free range of 6 traditional cakes.

Suppliers of a range of premium handmade desserts to the foodservice and hospitality sectors, the company has created the new range using its award winning multi portion tart recipes to offer a 10cm product, which is handcrafted with butter pastry. The line up includes Treacle Tart, Pear and Almond Franzipan, Rhubarb Franzipan and traditional favourites Bakewell Tart and Yorkshire Curd Tart.

Just Desserts has invested in a new bakery blocker to produce the new range, which features a fluted pastry edge for a more artisan feel. The bakery has secured its first customer for the products, with the range being taken by Boundary Mills cafes.

With their eye-catching appeal, the range has been introduced to offer existing customers more choice and to support the bakery’s growth plans to expand its customer base and to develop new markets. The tarts can be sold over the counter at delis and farm shops, as well as providing a welcome addition to the burgeoning coffee culture market.

The company has seen an increase in the continuing trend for mini-desserts and the new individual tart range will appeal to the restaurant/bistro sector, as they can be easily quartered for portion control and served as a smaller after dinner dessert.

James O’Dwyer, managing director, Just Desserts said: “Our new individual tarts are a welcome addition to our product offer and because of their versatility, they should be attractive to a larger number of foodservice customers. The range should be highly appealing to customers in our target markets as they want to indulge, at least a little, when dining out or meeting for coffee, but are still feeling cash-strapped, so these products allow them to enjoy an after dinner dessert or a coffee and sweet treat.”
