Yorkshire Coast businesses feature on prime time programme

Two Yorkshire coast-based food and drink businesses have been featured in a new prime time Channel 4 programme.

Scarborough based SeaGrown and Whitby Distillery both appeared in the new four-part series ‘Yorkshire By The Sea’ which follows the stories of business owners and communities along the Yorkshire Coast.

SeaGrown are an innovative seaweed farming business developing an exciting new marine industry for the UK. Founded in 2018, the businesses is a first-of its kind sustainable offshore seaweed farm, growing kelp all year round for use in food, agriculture, nutraceuticals and bioplastics.

Owned and run by Jessica Slater and Luke Pentith, Whitby Distillery is based just up the coast in Whitby and currently sells around 1000 bottles of their spirits each week. The duos range is created using hand-foraged botanicals sourced from their coastal and moorland surroundings and launched a new Dark Spiced Rum to raise vital funds for the RNLI earlier this year.

SeaGrown and Whitby Distillery feature on episodes one and two of the series and you can watch again on the Channel 4 app now.
