The Yorkshire Crisp Company are celebrating after being awarded a coveted gold star in this year’s Great Taste Awards.
The Sheffield based company who produce hand-made gourmet crisps with natural flavours, were awarded the star for their Italian Summer Truffle gourmet crisps.
Created in partnership with Italian company Sacchi Tartufi, who co-developed the bespoke truffle seasoning, the crisps were launched last summer and have proven to be a popular addition to their already award-winning range.
Created using Italian summer truffle, originating from Acqualagna, in Gola del Furlo, between Urbino and Pesara which is a territory with an ideal microclimate for the sought after truffles, it is one of the few areas in Italy where the precious fruit can be collected all year round.
The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the world’s largest and most respected food and drink accreditation scheme, with more than 500 expert judges joining the panel each year to give their honest, knowledgeable feedback on the entrants.

The product was put under the Awards rigorous blind tasting conducted by a panel of industry experts before being awarded the honour, with the judges commenting: “We were immediately seduced by the truffle aroma of these crisps. On the palate, we could distinctly discern the truffle seasoning and felt that it elevated the crisps.”
Produced using carefully selected potatoes grown on the Yorkshire Wolds, the crisps are expertly hand cooked in small batches in hot sunflower oil before being seasoned with 100% natural flavourings whilst still warm.
