Yorkshire Farm Shop to open World’s First Egg Restaurant

Minskip Farm Shop in Boroughbridgeare to open the world’s first egg restaurant on their free-range egg farm.

The new eatery which has been named Yolk Farm, will have a fun, quirky feel, and aim to reconnect customers with their food on the farm itself.

Seating around 60 people, the menu will focus on unique egg dishes with a healthy twist, attracting anybody who is interested in a genuine connection with food.

Owners Ben and Emma Mosey said: “As you drive into our gates, you can see the hens living their best lives in their free range paddock and laying the most amazing eggs. We wanted to create a place where customers can have amazing food experiences and learn about the journey of their food in a fun, interactive way.”

As well as Minskip’s flock of free range hens, the team also sell a range of seasonal produce which is grown in their market garden as well as a number of locally sourced and produced products in their shop.

The Minskip team are passionate about animal welfare and over recent years have successfully rehomed 6,000 hens.  They believe that the happier and healthier the hen, the more delicious the egg, a belief that is upheld by their win of Retailer of the Year 2018 from the British Free Range Egg Producers’ Association, an award previously won by Marks and Spencer and Booths.

Emma continues: “We hope to change the farming industry for the better and to show other young people that farming is an industry worth getting into, if you make the effort to do something a bit different and stand out from the flock.”
