Yorkshire Food Brand Bannisters’ Farm Wins The Red Ribbon Award For Innovation 2014

Bannisters’ Farm is bringing home the Red Ribbon Award for Innovation this year following an evening of fierce competition at Goldsmiths Hall, London on Friday 20th June. This year was the fifth Annual Red Ribbon Awards, the only awards in the UK to celebrate the achievements of British, family-run businesses regardless of turnover and industry.

The Innovation Award itself celebrates a family business that has proven to be innovative, ahead of the game and leading the way amongst competitors. Bannisters’ Farm delivers just this, having been developed by husband and wife team Rob and Hilary Bannister and their two daughters Zoe and Marie, after they identified a gap in the market for frozen baked potato products.

With British brands from across the country competing for this accolade, Bannisters’ Farm is proud to wave the flag for Yorkshire and the British potato industry. Founder Rob Bannister says, “As a traditional British farming-family business, it’s an honour to be recognised by the Red Ribbon Awards, especially given the calibre of the finalists. We are particularly proud to have won in the Innovation category. Innovation has been key for us, as it is for so many other smaller British family businesses, from the date of start-up in every aspect of our business. It is also great to have recognition for starting a new category in the grocery retail market that continues to gather momentum. We are very proud of our British farming heritage and the fact that we always source potatoes from Britain and preferably, to the extent we can, locally in Yorkshire including from our own and neighbouring farms.”

The judging panel said of Bannisters’ Farm “It’s really important Bannisters’ Farm realise how fantastic their products are to a busy family like ours. Their great range of products, wide availability and personal, friendly brand make all the difference when purse strings are tight for families up and down the country. They are a fantastic example of a modern, innovative family business who have got it spot on.”
