Huddersfield ice cream producer Yummy Yorkshire has joined forces with fellow Yorkshire business, Taylors of Harrogate, to launch a new Yorkshire Tea flavoured ice cream for this weekend’s Kendal Calling Music Festival.
The limited edition ice cream is made using the Yorkshire Tea loose leaf blend which is first brewed and steeped overnight before being blended with natural dairy ice cream. Flecks of the tea leaves are rippled throughout the ice cream.
The ‘Yorkshire Tea Ice Cream’ flavour has been created as a one-off recipe especially for the Kendal Calling Music Festival which takes places this weekend (26- 28 July) at Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District. Headlining the festival are Primal Scream, The Charlatans and Basement Jaxx.
As well as music across a number of stages Tim Burgess will once again bring his Tim Peaks Diner to the fields. This year the diner will be home to The Academy ““ a partnership with the University of Cumbria to run a number of workshops and talks about the music industry – serving up beverages and cherry pie to festival goers.
On Sunday the Yorkshire Tea Ice Cream will also be dished out to hungry festival-goers.
Yummy Yorkshire linked up with Yorkshire Tea after the iconic brand approached them about the project.
Louise Holmes is co-founder of Yummy Yorkshire and says: “We’ve always wanted to create a Yorkshire Tea ice cream flavour so were thrilled when Taylors approached us about joining forces.
“A big part of our company ethos is working with interesting local food producers so that we can create ice cream flavours that are a little unusual and different. Collaborating with Yorkshire Tea was therefore a natural fit for us. The resulting ice cream is sweet, creamy and intense but also very refreshing.”
Heidi Dyson, Assistant Brand Manager for Yorkshire Tea adds: “As a family-owned Yorkshire business, Yummy Yorkshire has a lovely synergy with the Yorkshire Tea brand, so were the perfect choice for this exciting collaboration. We are positive the sun will be shining this weekend and that the revellers at Kendal Calling will love our delicious Yorkshire Tea limited edition ice-cream!”
Tickets for the festival are priced at £115 for the weekend and are still available online. – See more at: http://louderthanwar.com/kendal-calling-announced-full-line-up/#sthash.FFsWHZkE.dpuf
