Yorvale shortlisted for food award

A Vale of York dairy ice cream manufacturer is celebrating after reaching the finals of a prestigious food competition for the second consecutive year.

Yorvale’s new Lemon, Honey and Ginger ice cream has reached the final three in the Best Dairy category of the Yorkshire Post Taste awards. The fusion inspired ice cream combines vanilla ice cream with a honey ripple, real lemon puree and ginger pieces.

Awarded both best in class and best ice cream overall at the Great Yorkshire Show, Lemon, Honey and Ginger ice cream is one of a range of Fusion Inspired ice creams that were created in conjunction with Saga development chefs for the flagship East meets West Restaurant on board the newly refurbished Saga Sapphire.

Commenting on the nomination, Lesley said; “We’re delighted that Lemon, Honey and Ginger has been well received by the judging panel and look forward to the awards dinner!”

The winner will be announced at a glittering awards dinner that is a collaboration between York Food Festival and the Yorkshire Post and takes place on 29th September at The Guildhall.

Yorvale uses traditional methods and the finest local ingredients to produce rich and creamy dairy ice cream. Its superior tasting ice cream is attributed to the fact that their herd of dairy cows graze on lush Yorkshire grass and because they only ever produce milk for ice cream, they only need to be milked once a day. The result is stress free cows that produce really creamy milk for superior tasting ice cream.

Yorvale ice cream is available from farm shops and independent and multiple retailers throughout Yorkshire.
