Proudfoot Group awarded ‘Community Champion’ title

Scarborough-based independent retailer The Proudfoot Group have been awarded the title of ‘Making a Difference Locally Community Champion’ for their commitment to the local community.

proudfootEvery month Nisa’s charity recognises one retailer who has participated in the initiative, who has made a real difference to their local community. The local supermarket chain was awarded the title in recognition of the stores regular donations to support a wide variety of local causes and actively promote the charity.

The ‘Making a Difference Locally’ charity raises funds in Nisa member stores through the sale of items from their own-label Heritage range and a selection of branded products which carry charitable donations from the suppliers. Monies go into a virtual fund for the store to donate to a local charity or good cause within a 10 mile radius.

The Proudfoot Group, who have 3 stores in the area, donated a total of £4,800 to local good causes in 2015 through the initiative to organisations including the FirstLight Trust, Scarborough & District Mencap, local Scout groups, schools and football clubs to name but a few.

Proudfoot’s will now receive a further £250 into their MADL account to donate to local causes for being selected as Community Champion.

Making a Difference Locally have donated a huge £31,149 to nearly 100 different beneficiaries to date. Kate Carroll, the charity’s manager said: “The Proudfoot Group are a true community retailer who brilliantly demonstrate what Making a Difference Locally is all about. The stores have donated an astonishing amount to local causes and are very deserving winners of the title.”
