The food has been tasted, the drinks have been sipped and the entries whittled down the highly anticipated Deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards shortlist for 2019.
The Pavilions of Harrogate played host to 3 very full days of judging by a panel of experts who included top chefs, food writers, supermarkets buyers and of course Deliciouslyorkshire favourite BBC Radio 2’s Nigel Barden, who carefully judged each of the several hundred products in turn.
The awards, which are now in the 16th year have grown to become the largest and most respected food and drink accolades in the region, and this year is no exception with a huge number of entries from a range of both new and iconic Yorkshire brands.
Nigel, who as Head Judge has been involved with the Taste Awards for a number of years said: “We’ve tasted and judged some fantastic products over the last week. As ever, the standard has been incredibly high and at times it’s been difficult to decide on a single winner for each category. The entries are a great reflection of the food and drink scene in Yorkshire and it’s a pleasure to return each year to find it thriving.”
As well as Nigel, the panel included local chefs Steph Moon from Rudding Park and Josh Whitehead from the Harewood Food and Drink Project as well as Gilly Robinson from Malton Cookery School and Adrian Boswell from Selfridges in London who made the trip North to sample what the County had to offer.
The winners of this year’s coveted Taste Awards trophies will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at the Pavilions of Harrogate on Wednesday 6th November where Nigel will host an evening of champagne, local food and celebration. Tickets are available to buy online at now HERE
