Apple Blossom Walks at Side Oven Bakery

An East Yorkshire farm and bakery are opening up their fields to the public this weekend for their first Apple Blossom event.

The award winning Side Oven Bakery, based at Carr House Farm at Foston on the Wolds is home to an established organic apple orchard from which the family run business pick and press all their own apple juice.

During May the entire orchard is a mass of beautiful white and pink blossom and visitors to the farm will be able to wander round the orchards and enjoy the spring spectacle for themselves.

Open to all, the free event which takes place tomorrow, Sunday 7th May from 10am – 3pm, will include guided walks around the farm and its orchards taking in the varied wildlife along their designated nature trail.  Visitors will also learn about the different heritage varieties of apples grown on the farm and how they are used.

Two walks will set off at 10:30am and 1:30pm from the meeting point at the bakery and will last approx 1hr 15min. The ground conditions may be wet under foot and most of it is on grassed margins, so good outdoor footwear will be needed.

As well as taking in the idyllic spring scenery, the farm’s award winning bakery will also be open for business offering visitors a range of hot and cold refreshments throughout the day including freshly baked specialty breads, cakes, croissant and sweetbuns.
