An East Yorkshire brewery is celebrating after having their beer served in the House of Commons bar throughout January.
Charlie Dewhirst, Member of Parliament for Bridlington & The Wolds, secured a spot for local business Wold Top Brewery’s beer in the Strangers’ Bar which showcases a guest ale recommended by an MP each month.
Family-run Wold Top, run by Alex and Kate Balchin, is known for its dedication to crafting fantastic beer using traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients, and Alex travelled down to London to see their beer on tap in one of the Britain’s most iconic bars and sampled by the hundreds of people working in the House of Commons every day.
Charlie Dewhirst MP said: “Wold Top Brewery unquestionably brews the best beers in our local area, around my constituency of Bridlington and The Wolds. I’m glad to give my colleagues in Parliament the opportunity to sample such a brilliant local product. This has been a great way to highlight the fantastic businesses we have nearby.”
Kate Balchin added: “We’re really happy to have Wold Top featured on the Strangers’ Bar. It’s lovely to know a beer from Yorkshire is being enjoyed by all and we’re grateful to Charlie for giving us the opportunity.”
