Christmas event at Drewton’s Farm Shop heralds the start of the festive season

The countdown to the festive season officially begins at Drewton’s Farm Shop near South Cave next Friday 16 November with a Christmas Shopping Extravaganza complete with carols, food and wine tasting, and lots more. There will also be a Christmas raffle with the chance to win one of Drewton’s luxurious gift hampers and all proceeds will go to Dove House Hospice’s Love You 2 appeal, which is raising funds towards the cost of redeveloping its Chamberlain Road hospice site in Hull.

A selection of the Yorkshire-based growers and suppliers whose goods are on sale in the Farm Shop will attend to chat to customers and offer tastings. These include The Dip Society, Quality Quail Eggs, Sloe Motion spirits, Hallgarten Wines, House of Dorchester chocolates, John Wright’s turkeys, Mackenzies smoked salmon, Harrogate Cake Co, Lewis & Cooper, Wensleydale Creamery and Laverack’s pies.

The event marks the start of Drewton’s late night openings on Fridays, which run right up to Christmas and will see the Farm Shop staying open until 9pm.
Katie Taylor, proprietor of Drewton’s, said: “Our Christmas Shopping Extravaganza promises to be a really lovely evening out and a chance to get into the spirit of the season, not to mention a great opportunity to make a start on your Christmas shopping.
“We wanted to support a local good cause this Christmas, and Dove House Hospice do some fantastic work in the region. We’re proud to be raising funds for them.”

On November 16, the café will close at 6pm and a ‘Fruits of the Forest’-themed, five-course dinner featuring seasonal ingredients sourced from the Drewton Estate and accompanied by carefully chosen wines, will be served at 7pm. Guests will be served an aperitif on arrival, and tea or coffee after the meal. Tables must be booked in advance and the meal, including wine, costs £39 per person.
