Collaboration is on a roll for Scarborough family businesses

Two popular Scarborough based businesses have teamed up to offer customers freshly baked goods at stores throughout the town.

Family-run Proudfoot supermarkets, who have stores Newby, Seamer, Eastfield and Manham Hill have partnered with well-known bakery retailer Cooplands, also based in the North Yorkshire town, to deliver their range of freshly baked goods directly to Proudfoot customers.

The partnership will see Cooplands range of craft bakery products stocked in Proudfoot’s stores and include a range of bakes, creams, hot savouries and more, as well as bread rolls which will also be used for sandwiches made on site at Proudfoot’s popular in-store deli counters.

Proudfoots, which has been operating within the town for over 70 years is a staple of the Scarborough high street and the collaboration with Cooplands will see the team strengthen their offering to their loyal customer base as well as supporting another local business.

Valerie Aston, director at the Proudfoot Group, said: “Proudfoot took the decision to work with Cooplands due to their broad range, quality products, increased delivery schedule and being a long established, well-known Scarborough family business.

“We’ve been in talks for a while so we were delighted to begin stocking the products from early May, and the response from customers so far has been very encouraging.”

Belinda Youngs, CEO for Cooplands added: “We are proud that we can be part of two great Yorkshire Brands, based next door in Scarborough, working together bringing Proudfoot customers their favourite Cooplands products.

“Proudfoot have been a collaborative and supportive partner and we look forward to continuing to bring innovation, great quality and good honest value products to their stores for local customers.”

As well as supporting other local businesses the Proudfoot team are also passionate about supporting the local community and have donated thousands of pounds from the sale of plastic bags and other fundraising activities over recent years to local charities and organisations throughout the area including supporting carers in the town during the recent lockdowns.
