Dalesman Group exceeds its ‘burning ambition’

The Dalesman Group exceeds its ‘burning ambition’ over adversity with a recommendation for AA grade in their latest British Retail Consortium audit

A Bradford based food manufacturer who suffered a catastrophic fire at their factory are celebrating after being awarded AA grade status by the British Retail Consortium.

The Dalesman Group, who produce a range of seasonings, glazes, rubs, sauces and gravy mixes, lost their entire head office site including the warehouse, manufacturing facility and offices on 9th August 2017.

The entire workforce united however to rebuild the business to ensure minimal impact to their customers and were back producing key products within five working days of the fire.

Almost immediately the team were able to purchase new processing equipment, source replacement ingredients and moved premises not only once, but twice and are now set up in an intermediary 43,000 square foot premises in Bradford.

Ian Rhodes, Senior Director and Co-Founder of the company said:  “The BRC rating signifies the huge achievement that The Dalesman Group has accomplished during the past six months and we could not be happier with the results.

“We’ve always taken pride in our high quality products, industry leading traceability processes and exemplary customer service and this result demonstrates our commitment to the high standards that set us apart from our rivals that we have sustained throughout these last six months of adversity”.

As well as the announcement of the AA rating, the businesses have also just announced that their full product portfolio is now back in production, as well as their bespoke blending function and popular New Product Development (NPD) technical facility.  Plan are also already drawn up to start the rebuilding process on the original Chase Way site which will open in 2019

Ian continued: “Production is now back to pre-fire capability and the product list has been expanded to include all pre-fire product offerings.  We’ve been working hard to ensure that we are supporting our customers.  Our BRC result is fantastic but we will not rest on our laurels and will continue to strive for the manufacturing excellence that has got us to where we are today.”
