Deliciouslyorkshire announce partnership with Too Good To Go
Deliciouslyorkshire, the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and the Humber have announced an exciting new partnership with food waste initiative, Too Good To Go.
The food app with a conscience, which has a worldwide reach, enables customers to search for and buy surplus stock from restaurants, retailers and producers in their area which would otherwise go to waste. Customers then purchase a ‘Magic Bag’ of food through the app and collect it at an allotted time.
The initiative works directly with food businesses of all sizes to tackle their waste and its environmental effects at a new point in the supply chain as well giving them the opportunity to upsell and engage with new customers.
Too Good To Go’s Partnerships Manager for Yorkshire the North East Caroline Conroy said: “Food waste is a worldwide issue. Each year 1/3 of all food produced goes to waste and this is responsible for 8-10% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Too Good To Go is on a mission to change that and we are delighted to be teaming up with Deliciouslyorkshire to get food businesses in this region involved.
“Working directly with businesses of all sizes, our app allows them to recover otherwise sunk costs, while also introducing them to a new customer base and become a player within the sustainability agenda. Our team worksclosely with each business to address food waste and ensure it is eaten and enjoyed, not wasted.”
Allison Kane, Deliciouslyorkshire’s Business Development Manager said: “It’s a win-win-win for our food businesses. Customers get a great deal, it helps the environment, and as a retailer, restaurant or food producer you avoid the cost to the business of food waste.
“We’d encourage everyone to visit the website and download the free app for more information and also to speak to the Too Good To Go team to see how they can help.”
To celebrate Deliciouslyorkshire’s partnership with Too Good To Go the first year admin fee for businesses signing up (usually £39 + VAT) will be waived, with just a small per bag sold fee payable to Too Good To Go.
