This year, York Food Festival has teamed up with Deliciously Yorkshire and York Press to run it’s public vote award as part of the 2013 Deliciously Yorkshire Awards.
During York Food Festival, the public will sample competitors Yorkshire produce and choose their favourite in each category to win an award. Voting will take place early evening, 6 to 8 pm (in the workshop area of the festival, on St Sampson’s square). The public will be able to reserve free tickets on the festival website.
There are three categories:
• Drinks (voting on Friday 20th September)
• Dairy (voting on Sunday 22nd September)
• Bakery (voting on Tuesday 24th September)
This award is FREE to enter but the organisers ask that competitors donate 100 samples of their Yorkshire product. (Small samples ““ for example the drinks samples will be served in mini shot glasses and we are happy to slice breads/cheeses etc in to small portions). Samples should be, ideally, be dropped off at the Festival Demonstration Tent, on St Sampson’s Square in York City Centre, on the morning of your category’s voting day. (There will be fridges, freezers and ovens at the site). Due to traffic restrictions in the city centre, products will need to be dropped off before 10.30am. If this is not possible we can arrange an alternative.
You can, if you choose, nominate a maximum of two products to be entered in to the awards. Your first choice will be automatically entered. The second will be entered should we have sufficient space in the category.
The awards will be covered in York Press and (hopefully featuring profiles of each competitor in the paper) alongside information about how to vote and how to buy tickets to the awards.
The winner of each category will be announced at the deliciouslyorkshire Awards ceremony which is to be held at the National Railway Museum on the 25th of September. Tickets cost for the ceremony cost £55 per person and are available through deliciouslyorkshire’s website.
