Farm & Bakery Open Day Celebrates British Heritage Apples

East Yorkshire based Side Oven Bakery are to hold a harvest festival and farm open day which will be open to the public on Sunday 18th October.

side oven open dayTaking place at their organic Carr House Farm base, in Foston on the Wolds, among the various activities on offer throughout the day will be a celebration of the Great British heritage apple of which a wide variety are grown in the farms organic orchards.

Many of these varieties are not widely available anymore and visitors will be given the chance to sample some of the delicious varieties on offer as well as having a go at making their own apple juice.

The open day which will run from 10am – 3pm, will be a celebration of the harvest being safely in for the year.  Visitors will be able to see what has been harvested by joining guided tours of the farm and finishing mill and seeing firsthand how the grain and produce is turned into the farm’s famous varieties of organically grown granola, bread and other baked goods.

The bakery itself will be open throughout the day and bursting with lots of freshly baked breads, croissant, sweetbreads and lots of refreshments for visitors to indulge in.
