Fodder has Christmas all Wrapped Up

The chill in the air means that Christmas is just around the corner and Fodder is ready to help you make it the tastiest Yorkshire Christmas ever.

The star of the show (alongside Father Christmas of course!) is the traditional turkey or goose. Pick up an order form in store or online and ensure your meat has a true Yorkshire taste, all local and free range turkeys have been herb fed too. Or for something a little bit different try the three bird roast which consists of chicken, duck and pheasant. Beef, Lamb and Pork are also available and orders need to be placed by Thursday 18thDecember.
Vegetables come from as nearby as possible starting with the lovely Bob of Knaresborough ““ not very smiley but has very green fingers! Don’t forget the goose fat for the best roast potatoes in town.
There is a glut of Christmas cakes, which come in all shapes and sizes including Harrogate Cake Company’s iced cakes or topped with glazed fruit or choose from a range of toppings; try a chocolate, fruit and nut; cherry and almond or citrusy Genoa. New to Fodder this year is Raisthorpe Manor’s tinned sloe gin Christmas cake.
Christmas puddings come from Harrogate Cake Company and for the first time, Burtree Puddings who also provide a gluten free option. Lottie Shaw’s mince pies will also be making a welcome return along with a splendid array of biscuits including a tin that celebrates the 12 days of Christmas.
There are stocking fillers galore with Choc on Choc’s pretty Christmas chocolate slabs decorated with the main man himself, Father Christmas or a snowman. Montezumas chocolate library or peanut butter snowballs will be enjoyed by everyone! Edible table decorations ““ chocolate of course and obviously the obligatory marzipan fruits made by hand, by Shepcotes in Driffield.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the scent of cinnamon and our Steenberg’s sticks can be used as decorations on the tree or added to mulled wine to add a hint of spice to this warming favourite.
On the savoury side Mondovino cheese biscuits come in two flavours black olive or crème fraiche and spring onion and there will be no shortage of cheese with over 80 different varieties in the deli fridges ““ don’t forget you can try before you buy! Also available on the deli for the festive season, our Voakes of Whixley’s Christmas Special Pie, a pork pie with poultry, sage and onion stuffing, topped with cranberries. Pork pies, black pudding pie, game pie, sausage rolls and quiches will be freshly prepared and along with smoked salmon, cooked meats and terrines, can be ordered in advance of the big day. Order forms can be found at the deli counter and must be returned by Monday 15thDecember.
