We are looking for a trainee to join our small team at Swillington Organic Farm.
The farm is a mixed livestock farm producing organic beef, lamb, poultry (chicken. ducks, turkeys and eggs). We also have free range pigs kept to organic welfare standards.
2 acres of fruit and veg are grown in the walled garden for our shop and CSA scheme members. All produce is sold through the farm shop, farmers markets and meat box delivery scheme.
Poultry is slaughtered on farm and all meat is butchered on farm.
The trainee would be involved in all aspects of the business. This is a chance to learn about organic production, processing and marketing (and paperwork!).
The job would be roughly 50:50 production (livestock and growing) and processing, selling/delivering.
We are looking for someone who is cheerful, patient and able to communicate with customers
Physically fit and used to being outdoors, previous stock experience would be useful.
Must be willing to work to a high standard of animal welfare, customer service and food hygiene.
Clean driving license essential.
Normally days worked would be Tues-Saturday with occasional Sundays.
Sorry no on farm accommodation so ideally we would be looking for someone local with their own transport (7am starts).
