A South Yorkshire businessman is celebrating after receiving an MBE.
John Plant, Chairman and Director of wholesale and distribution firm G W Price, was awarded the prestigious honour for his Services to Business and Work in the Communities in the North of England.
The award, which was announced last summer as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours was awarded at Buckingham Palace earlier this month.
Established in 1901, the award-winning Eckington based firm have built a reputation for supplying high quality fresh fruit and vegetables and today the business supplies companies throughout the UK, from small independent hotels and restaurants through to the UK’s largest supermarkets.
John, who has worked at GW Price for 54 years and is the fourth generation to run it after being founded by his great grandfather, has built the firm into one of the leading fresh fruit and vegetable companies in the country.
