Proud bakers for more than a hundred years and spanning three generations, Lottie Shaw’s is celebrating being crowned the “Taste of Yorkshire”.
The award was presented by tourist body, Welcome to Yorkshire, after an independent panel of judges declared Lottie Shaw’s authentic, traditional Yorkshire baked goods the best food product in the entire county.
The award comes after the Elland based company’s busiest year, which has seen record sales with 50% growth in the last year and a huge increase in the number of outlets nationwide.
At the heart of the Lottie Shaw’s range are products made using recipes handed down the family from generation to generation, including the award winning Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin.
At the helm now is Lottie Shaw herself, whose grandfather and great aunts started baking in the Halifax area more than a century ago.
“We are thrilled with this recognition of our quality and service,” says Lottie, whose father is also a Master Baker. “Yorkshire is at the very heart of our products. Even our Seriously Good Fruit cake uses Yorkshire stout in which to to soak our fruit.”
Lottie Shaw’s products,with their distinctive kraft and burgundy packaging, are now sold in the country’s finest farm shops, stately homes and retail outlets and this year some of her treats to go range were chosen by the Cooperative Society to launch a collaboration with local producers.
Lottie Shaw’s has also established an extensive online shop with gifts and hampers proving to be particularly popular.
The company are now preparing for one of their busiest times of the year as more than 100,000 traditional hand baked mince pies will be baked in the run up to the festive season.
