New Rum Celebrates RNLI

Whitby Distillery have launched a new spirit in celebration of the RNLI.

Inspired by local RNLI Volunteers, who the Distillery’s Co-Founder Luke Pentith joined as a trainee last year, their new Dark Spiced Rum features a combination of delicious coastal flavours including sea buckthorn and pepper dulse from SeaGrown as well as cassia bark and cloves, with 10% of proceeds from each bottle sold donated to the RNLI’s work.

Luke said: “We’ve seen first-hand the dedication and passion the volunteers have for their role and with the introduction of the new Shannon Lifeboat to the Whitby RNLI station recently, we recognised the level of ongoing support that is needed to keep the station running.

“Our new rum is laid to rest in a Madeira casks which gives it those familiar whispers of original rum but with a stronger spice, rich fruit overtones, molasses and treacle.”

As well as the newly launched Rum, the distillery, which was founded in 2017 are also now offering Distillery Tours: From Beach to Batch.

Giving the public the chance to get behind the scenes and discover the craft behind their range, the tours are available each week on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Each tour lasts an hour and includes a Whitby Gin & tonic, botanical masterclass and a tasting session of a further three of the Distillery’s spirits, along with a branded glass to take home.

Tours cost £20 per person.  For more information and to book online visit www.whitbydistillery.com
