Rosebud Preserves launch new Yorkshire Whisky Marmalade

Two award-winning Yorkshire businesses have teamed up to create a new collaboration in time for Easter.

Masham based Rosebud Preserves have partnered with the team at Yorkshire whisky producers Spirit of Yorkshire to create a new Yorkshire Whisky Marmalade

Dark, malty and full bodied, the new marmalade has been created with Seville oranges, fresh lemon juice, molasses and the addition of the award winning Filey Bay single malt whisky

Founder of Rosebud Preserves, Elspeth Biltoft said: “This new marmalade is the result of a special collaboration between ourselves and the team at The Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery at Hunmanby on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds.

“Their Filey Bay Flagship single malt whisky is created from 100% homegrown barley and matured in ex-Bourbon casks, giving making it light and fruity with notes of citrus, caramel, honey and vanilla which pairs beautifully with our classic Seville Orange Marmalade.  The complimentary flavours working in harmony to create a preserve that is deeply rich in flavour and wonderful on morning toast.”

Multi award winning Rosebud Preserves has been making its jams, marmalades, chutneys and jellies from their base in the Yorkshire Dales since 1989. The company was started by Elspeth with her founding principles to source local produce whenever possible, using traditional recipes and time honoured techniques, without the use of additives, preservatives or pectin which remain the same today.

Elspeth continues: “We use the best seasonal produce to make our products, sourcing our Seville oranges from the heart of Andalucía which are grown by the same family who has been managing orchards for over three generations.  The beauty of their fruit is that they have a special sweet bitterness that imparts a superb flavour to our marmalades.”

David Thompson, co-founder of Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, adds: “The caramel and honey notes of our whisky complement the bitterness of the oranges perfectly to create a deliciously indulgent preserve.

“We’re really excited to be collaborating on the new Yorkshire Whisky Marmalade.  The partnership brings together two Yorkshire businesses that share a passion for sourcing locally and using traditional methods to create fantastic products.”

As well as selling direct via the Rosebud Preserves website, the range can also be found in independent retailers across the country including, Neal’s Yard Dairy and the Castle Howard Estate as well as exporting across the world.
