The team at Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky distillery have released their latest bottling.
Hunmanby based Spirit of Yorkshire launched Filey Bay Flagship, a single malt whisky characterised by flavours of citrus, caramel, honey and vanilla which will join their already award-winning range.
Spirit of Yorkshire Director and Co-Founder, David Thompson said: “Just over a year on from our First Release, our Flagship whisky doesn’t just represent our light and fruity house style but years of hard work and planning of a whole team of dedicated and passionate people.
“It is a beautifully rounded light, fruity and creamy single malt whisky that is made with 100% homegrown barley. Our ethos is all about respecting tradition but doing things our own way and the style, taste and creation of Flagship truly brings this to life!”
The distillery’s Whisky Director, Joe Clark added: “Flagship brings together some of our very best and oldest whisky matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks that have been carefully selected and gently married together to create a beautifully balanced, light and fruity whisky.
“As the years ahead unfold, our Flagship whisky will continue to develop as age and time reveal more casks and flavour in our warehouse, as is the nature of whisky production and part of what makes it so special.”
The new release comes at the end of a successful summer for the Distillery team who picked up two prestigious industry awards last month at the International Wines and Spirits Competition (IWSC) with Filey Bay Moscatel Finish awarded a silver and Filey Bay taking home a bronze
Filey Bay Moscatel Finish was one of only eight English whiskies to be awarded a silver medal in the Worldwide Whisky category at what is one of the leading drinks competitions in the world. Silver medal winning spirits are typically described as ‘An accomplished spirit with good balance, strong character and good complexity. A classic example of its style or variety.’
