A Nidderdale based spirits company are celebrating after filling their 100th whisky cask.
After a hugely successful start to their move into Whisky production, Whittaker’s Distillery officially filled their 100th cask of Whittaker’s Whisky earlier this month
Based at the family farm at Dacre Banks, the distillery, which is run by husband-and-wife team Toby and Jane Whittaker was originally launched in 2015 with their signature Whittaker’s Gin, later expanding into different strengths and flavours as well as vodka.
After picking up a raft of both national and international industry awards including Gold Medals at the World Gin Awards and World Vodka Awards the team moved into whisky production in 2019.
The new range includes a huge array of different types of casks including traditional Bourbon, Pedro Ximenez, Oloroso, Rum, Vintage Port and Maderia, and chose a Marsala cask for their milestone 100th cask, with the highly anticipated first bottle of Nidderdale Single Malt Whisky planned for release in 2024.
Toby said: “Filling the 100th cask of our whisky is a really fantastic milestone or our team and comes after a lot of hard work. We’re moving into a really exciting phase at the distillery and are looking forward to launching the whisky in the future.”
As well as having the capacity to bottle 15000 bottles a year of their range of award-winning spirits, the Whittaker’s team have also developed the site further, converting other unused farm buildings to expand the distillery in order to keep up with demand and opening the doors to their tasting room and coffee shop in 2019 which offers visitors tours of the distillery as well as an events space.
Toby continues: “The development and growth of the business over the last few years has been great and we’re really excited to be able to welcome visitors back to the distillery café and for tours again too.”
Whittaker’s range of spirits are available at independent retailers nationwide and online at www.whittakersgin.co.uk where distillery tours can also be booked.
