Nidderdale-based Whittaker’s Distillery is celebrating after securing a prestigious Silver Medal at the 2026 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).
The family-run distillery was awarded an impressive 94/100 for its Distillery Exclusive 2025 Palo Cortado Single Malt English Whisky, a single-cask release, bottled at cask strength, and the sister to their Palo Cortado cask, previously bottled for Fortnum & Mason.
Founded in 2015 by husband-and-wife team Toby and Jane Whittaker, the independent distillery began by producing gin before launching its inaugural Yorkshire Dales single malt whisky in 2024. Crafted over five years, the whisky uses spring water from the family farm and locally sourced barley, matured predominantly in ex-Bourbon, ex-Sherry and ex-Rum casks.
