Yorkshire cheesemonger and fine food merchants Cryer & Stottare celebrating after taking home 3 titles at the prestigious British Pie Awards recently.
The family run company’s Steak & Leeds Best Pie was awarded a Gold award in the coveted Best Hot Eating Pie class, in addition, to a further 2 Bronze awards at the event.
Although best known as an award-winning cheesemonger, the South Yorkshire based company created their sister brand, The Proper Northern Pie Company, during the pandemic as a solution for head chefs struggling with staff shortages.
Working with skilled chefs and Kirkstall Brewery, their aim was to create a handmade pie with real flavour and provenance.
Richard Holmes, MD of Cryer & Stott said: “We’ve been creating our pies for four years now and although we know chefs love them, it’s nice to get recognition from a prestigious national award for their quality.”
Now in their 16th year, the awards attract over 900 entries from across the country covering 24 classes including Traditional Favourites, Vegan, Gluten Free and Fusion, all judged by a panel of 140 experts.
