A small Yorkshire based family run business, Coeur de Xocolat, is celebrating the launch of its brand new range of hand made chocolate bars and chocolate based jams and spreads to the UK wholesale sector and specialist retail outlets with its first listing.
Headed up by professional chocolatier and member of the guild of master chefs, David Greenwood-Haigh, the new products are aimed at the luxury, premium market. Using only the best Fino de Aroma Colombian cocoa, which makes up just 8% of the world’s chocolate, the range includes Nevado White Chocolate and Strawberry Jam, 40% Noche Milk Chocolate and Orange Marmalade and 70% Aruca Dark Chocolate and Raspberry Jam.
The jams and spreads market in the UK is worth £439.9m and is enjoying growth in a tough climate with a large amount of the expansion coming from two areas: the premium end of the shelves and chocolate, proving that British shoppers are willing to pay a little bit more for that extra special treat.
David Greenwood-Haigh says: “We saw a gap in the marketplace for preserves made with high quality chocolate. It’s such a versatile food, with over 1500 flavour notes, the pairing possibilities are endless. Consumers are looking for quality but with something a little bit different to add to their toast, croissant or scone.
“Their pallets are getting more discerning and they crave an understanding of the cocoa’s provenance and origin much like you would with a wine or whisky. “We only select the best cocoa and all the products are hand made in Yorkshire. The feedback so far has been really positive.”
Beverley-based Moordale Foods has agreed a contract with Coeur de Xocolat to list the new range through selected farm shops and garden centres nationwide.
The products will be on retail shelves with a RRP of £3.95 from March 2015.
